Inti-Illimani (from Quechuan inti and / Aymara illimani) are an instrumental and vocal Latin American folk music ensemble from Chile. The group was formed in 1967 by a group of university students and it acquired widespread popularity in Chile for their song Venceremos (We shall win!) which became the anthem of the Popular Unity government of Salvador Allende. At the moment of the September 11, 1973 Chilean coup they were on tour in Europe and were unable to return to their country where their music was proscribed by the ruling military junta. In Europe their music took on a multifa.
Welcome to Capitalism V Socialism. As the title says, here you can discuss and debate capitalism and its opposition, socialism. What are those?Capitalism refers to the economic system wherein decisions about production, investment, and exchange are made chiefly by private individuals or corporations, especially as contrasted with collective, public, or state ownership. Since climate science 'skeptics' are so distrustful of meta-analysis and statistically significant, accurate predictions made by climate science models, let's instead ask a few questions.Do you believe in the conservation of energy?.Okay.
Do you believe that physicists understand the spectra of CO2 and methane?.Okay. So if satellites a darkening of the spectra associated with those greenhouse gases, what does this necessarily imply? In case it's not obvious, observing a darkening of those spectra means that less energy is being radiated from Earth. By the conservation of energy, where is that energy going?. Climate change is happening, and yes human activity is largely responsible. We helped create this situation and that also means we can, and should, fix it. The consequences if we don't could be devastating. Acidification of the worlds' oceans, increased frequency of droughts and hurricanes, and rising sea levels are just a few of the likely outcomes.
The potential destruction of large swaths of our planet's natural resources should be of grave concern to everyone, regardless of political orientation. As a Venezuelan I can assure you its socialism's fault, Nationalized companies have all reduced production incredibly.
Getting companies out of private hands has resulted in disaster and all these countries are suffering horribly because of it, here in Venezuela there is rampant inflation, inexistent middle class (they're all poor now), lack of basic services like electricity and water, insecurity through the roof (look at the most dangerous cities on the planet and see how many are Venezuelan) and long lines for food and basic necessities. Your flair supporting the corrupt government that is responsible for all this.
